Pet Run is launched in India

A new initiative, PetRun, is bringing a fresh dimension to the worlds of pet parenting and recreational fitness in India with a virtual running concept designed to encourage people to get active alongside their four-legged companions.

With the growing popularity of pet parenting and technology-enabled fitness activities, PetRun aims to offer dog owners an engaging way to combine their love for animals with walking, jogging and running. The virtual format allows participants to complete designated distances with their dogs over a specified period, rather than having to gather at a single physical event venue.

Fitness, companionship and technology come together

Unlike a conventional dog run that requires participants to assemble at a particular location, a virtual challenge gives participants the flexibility to complete their distance in a suitable local environment during the designated event period.

The Pet Run Virtual Challenge, listed on the runINDIA registration platform, includes weekly 5 km challenges and a monthly 50 km challenge for November 2026.

Participants in the weekly challenges can complete 5 km of walking, jogging or running with their dogs during the designated week. The listed entry fee is ₹99 per weekly challenge, with an electronic participation certificate and a weekly leaderboard.

The monthly Classic 50K Challenge invites participants to accumulate 50 km with their dogs throughout November. The listed entry fee is ₹699, with finisher medals for both the human participant and their canine companion, along with an electronic certificate of completion.

The weekly challenges also feature incentives for top performers, including free entries to subsequent challenges. Participants who complete three consecutive weekly 5 km challenges qualify for direct entry into the Classic Monthly 50 km Challenge, according to the published event details.

Making fitness a shared experience

PetRun seeks to build on the emotional bond between people and their pets by turning everyday physical activity into a shared goal.

For many dog owners, daily walks are already part of their routine. The virtual challenge format offers an opportunity to give those walks a new purpose through distance targets, progress tracking and friendly competition.
